Actor Resumes

As an actor you will be used to being persuasive and playing a certain part well. When it comes to writing your Actor Resume, you need to follow the same set of rules. You will need to start your resume with an Actor cover letter, and this should obviously indicate that you would be interested in the position, but it also needs to spell out your acting pedigree. Draw reference to some of your most impressive roles in the past, but only touch upon these – remember that you will be talking about all of your acting roles in your Actor Resume. You should finish your cover letter by saying again that you want to be considered for the post, and by leaving contact details at the foot of the Actor cover letter.

First and foremost your Actor Resume needs to display your current career work to date. You should also try to focus more strongly on the roles that you have done in the past which relate to the role for which you are applying. However, your Actor Resume should be kicked off with an objective statement. This statement must show where you would like to see your acting career go in the future, but you also need to make sure that your statement fits in with the sort of work for which you are applying now.

The next section of your Actor Resume should be a list of the acting roles you have done in the past. Try to break this down into different types of acting, such as films, television, adverts, voice over work etc. Focus on the more high profile work, and try to list this near to the top.

The next section should go into detail about any training you have carried out. If you have been to drama school or anything similar then you need to go into detail about this. You can list your general education too, but don’t go into detail about it.

The next section should be about your career to date and should include information about any awards you have won or great press you have received. As an actor you will probably have clippings of anything that has been said about your performances, and if you have some good reviews then these really should be focused upon.

Make sure that your Actor Resume really focuses on your achievements. You need to sell both your ability, and your credentials, and the only way to do that is by having a full resume with every facet of your acting skills displayed.
