Apprentice Resumes
As an apprentice of any kind, the important thing to show in your Apprentice Resume is passion for the work you would like to do, and the appropriate training for the role. You will not have the working experience to show how well you can perform, so you have to rely heavily on enthusiasm.
Start off your application with an Apprentice cover letter. This should indicate that you would like to apply for the position of apprentice, but it should also spell out why you think that you would be a good candidate. You can briefly explain the training courses you have undertaken in your efforts to forge a career in your chosen field, and you can also mention your general education, but don’t go into too much depth, because you will be using this information in your Apprentice Resume.
With your Apprentice cover letter out of the way, it is on to the main event, your resume. An Apprentice Resume should always start with an objective statement which should show where you see yourself in the next few years in terms of your career. You should read the details of this apprentice opportunity carefully to make sure that what you write matches the description of the job. You should show ambition to move beyond the position of apprentice, but make sure that your ambition doesn’t take you beyond the post for which you are applying.
The next section of your Apprentice Resume should focus on your qualifications. This should focus heavily on the courses you have taken specifically with your apprenticeship in mind. Not too many people are going to want to take you on if you have not even trained to a small degree, and you will need to indicate that you believe strongly enough in your industry to have taken the time and money to take some courses.
Follow this section with some information about your education. You can be quite in depth here, particularly if you have done well at school and college. Because you won’t have any working experience, if you grades show that you are able to apply yourself and perform well and work hard, there is a good chance that any prospective employer will believe that you have what it takes to knuckle down and work hard to be able learn the trade.
