Architect Resumes

As an architect, you will either have studied for many years to learn your trade, or you may have worked your way through a company learning your trade and studying as you go. Either way, there is no easy way to land a job in this field and there will always be strong competition for jobs. It’s for this reason that your Architect Resume and cover letter need to be perfect.

You should start off with your Architect cover letter. This cover letter will need to give an indication that you would like to be considered for the position, but it will also need to explain why you should be considered for the position. You can start by giving some information about your working experience. Try not to go too in depth here – you will be going into some detail about your working history in your Architect Resume, but it might be a good idea to mention any work you have done on landmark developments to show the level of expertise you have built up over the years. You can also briefly mention your qualifications here too.

With the Architect cover letter out of the way it will be time to start work on your resume. An Architect Resume should always start with an objective. This should show where you hope to be career wise in five years time. Take into account the job description, and the possibility for progression within the company before writing this.

The following section of your Architect Resume should be a summarization of your work to date. This should be a bullet pointed section explaining briefly what you have achieved in your career in terms of design work and qualifications.

The next two sections of your Architect Resume should expand on the last section by talking about both your education and your working experience. Your working experience section should mention in reverse chronological order the positions you have held as well as the specific buildings you have designed and been involved with. Of course you will want to mention any awards or commendations you have received in this time. If you can, try to be expansive at all times, and mention ways in which you worked, mentioning tools of the trade such as Archicad and other computer based software commonly used in architectural practice.

The educational section of your Architect Resume should obviously focus on the specific qualifications that you have in the working arena. This may well be a degree qualification, so you should mention the work that needed to be carried out in order for you to gain this qualification.
