Biologist Resumes

As a biologist you will understand the importance of data. Approaching the creation of your Biologist Resume and cover letter should really be no different from how you would approach one of your scientific experiments in that you have to pay close attention to detail, and you need to have the facts to back up your claims.

You should start off with your Biologist cover letter. This letter is in place to apply for the post, but it should also lead the reader to your Biologist resume as well. Mention that you would like to apply for the job, but also give reasons why you should be considered. This can be relevant experience in the field in such as high profile studies you have carried out, and it can also be highlighting your educational prowess such as mentioning your degree. This shows that you understand the role and that you are ambitious too.

Follow this with a section on your areas of expertise and skills. This section should be broken down into bullet points and should really put across what you are capable of within the discipline. Here you should mention the number of years you have been working in the field, what areas of biology you have worked in, such as laboratory work, field studies and analysis, and whether or not you have gone on to management positions in the past. You can mention your sound analysing skills, areas of specific skill and experience, and brief mentions of your education, although you will go into more detail about this later on in the Biologist Resume.

The next section of your Biologist Resume should be your working experience. Here you should list all of the positions you have occupied in reverse order. You need to be going into detail about each position, mentioning what your duties were. Focus on trying to show career progression. You can do this by highlighting successful investigations, new discoveries in your particular biological field and by indicating when and why you were promoted.

The final section of your Biologist Resume should be about your qualifications. In order to find yourself a decent position, you will certainly have to have a degree in Biology, or in your niche field of biology, but many people will have gone on to do more than this, so a masters degree in a biological field will look best on your Resume. Start off with your most recent qualification, and go backwards chronologically from there, highlighting qualifications that are specific to biology.
