Counselor Resumes

Whatever sort of counsellor you would like to be, or even if you are already a counsellor, it is very important to have put together a proper Counsellor Resume and cover letter. You will need to show your credentials in a professional manner and will be expected to display these in a perfect application.

You should start off your application with a Counsellor cover letter. This cover letter needs to be quite specific. First of all you need to state that you would like to apply for the counsellor position that has been advertised. You also need to justify your application. Do this by referring briefly to past experiences either as a counsellor or in a position which makes you an ideal candidate to be a counsellor, but remember that you will be going into much greater detail about this in your Counsellor Resume, so keep it brief. You should indicate a belief in the particular company or party you are hoping to join, and again state your strong desire to be given consideration for the post.

Once you have completed your Counsellor cover letter, you need to get started on your resume. Any Counsellor Resume needs to be very focused on the specific role that you are applying for. This is because counsellor roles vary so greatly, and things like political stance may need to be changed from position to position.

Start off your Counsellor Resume with an objective statement. This statement needs to take into consideration the beliefs held by the company which you are applying to. If they have a particular political stance, then your objective, which is going to be mapping out your career objectives, should follow their political stance.

The next section should be your working history. In this section you really need to do more than just list the jobs that you have held over the years. You need to go into detail about each position, and extract and explain the elements of these jobs which are going to make you a stand out candidate for a role as a counsellor. This section should run in reverse order starting with your current or most recent position.

The next section if your Counsellor Resume should be devoted to your education and qualifications Again this section should run in reverse order, starting with your most recent. Again you should be trying to highlight aspects of your education and specific qualifications which show you to be a good candidate to the role. Try to indicate where you have excelled.

The final section of your Counsellor Resume is very important. This is the section which explains a little about yourself out of work. That being said, you need to give the impression of having been active in your community and show some sort of involvement in committees if this is possible. Try to show that you are a well thought of and trusted person who people can rely on for guidance and knowledge.

Good luck with your application, and remember to refer back to the information above to give yourself the best chance of succeeding in your application.
