Crew Resumes

If you are hoping to find work as a crew member on a Yacht, then you must be aware of the stiff competition for positions such as these. Theoretically you do not need any qualifications for this sort of position, but realistically speaking, if you want to stand out from the crowd, you are going to need something in your Yacht Resume and cover letter which singles you out as a great crew member. Try to write both documents professionally, and be sure to extol your own virtues.

Start off your application with a Crew cover letter. Apply for the job formally, and give some reasons why you should be considered. You may not have past experience, but you can discuss your passion for Yachts, and you may have experience sailing in smaller boats that will transpose to large Yachts where the jobs tend to be.

With your Crew cover letter finished, you should move on to your Crew Resume. This should start with a simple objective statement about your aspirations for your next working position. If you don’t have any experience you should say that you are hoping to gain invaluable experience as a crew member of a large Yacht, where you can use your willingness to learn and your passion for Yacht work to become a valued member of the team. Showing willingness is very important in the sort of resume where many applicants don’t have experience.

The next section of your application should be about your Work experience. You can also include in this section actual sailing experience, even if it has been leisure based. Any experience will help you to be able to do this job, even if it had been sailing a small dinghy such as a Laser or a Topper, it will show that you have a certain understanding of the sea and of the way that sail boats work. Be sure to also mention any work experience which is not related to Yacht work. It will still show that you have had the get up and go to source yourself a job.

The final section of your Crew Resume should be about your qualifications. You might not have too many qualifications which relate to Yacht crew work, so you should include the whole of your educational qualifications. You may find that you have some certificates which will lend themselves to being part of a crew though. If you have a health and safety certificate, or a first aid certificate, then this might well be considered valuable by a crew leader.
