Designer Resumes
Whatever sort of design work you do, you will more than likely have a portfolio of work which you use in the case of job applications, but it is imperative that this goes hand in hand with a good Designer Resume and cover letter. All jobs need this, and a designer job is no different. You should start off your application for any job with a really good Designer cover letter.
Your cover letter needs to show that you would like to be considered for the position that is being advertised. Try to convey also that you think that you would be a good candidate for this position, and use some examples from your experience in the field to back this up. Be sure though not to give too much information away at this stage, because you will be using this information in your Designer Resume, and you do not want too much duplication of content. Sign off with a reiteration of your desire to be considered for the post, and remember to leave contact details.
Once your Designer cover letter is finished, you can move on to the Resume. You may already have a Resume, but it is important to revamp every time you apply for a new job. Start your Designer Resume with a strong objective which explains the direction you would like to take your designing over the course of your career. It is important that the information you give shows that you would be a good match for the company to which you are applying for.
Follow this section with a section dedicated to your working experiences. You can show this as positions filled as well as design jobs completed. The important thing is that you divulge plenty of information about all of the work you have carried out, indicating what has made you successful, and what experience you have that is relevant to this post. Try to run things in a reverse order starting with your current or most recent work.
The next section of your Designer Resume should be about your qualifications. Again this section must run in reverse order and you should also try to discuss some of your qualifications in relation to the job at hand. Explain where you have done particularly well, and draw special attention to qualifications which you think will put you in good stead for this job.
The final section of your Designer Resume should be about you away from the work environment. You want to indicate that you are an easy going person who is easy to get along with, and you should also try to show that you are good at working as part of a team – something crucial when working for anyone. If you are a member of any clubs or groups, then you should mention this here.
