Detective Resumes

People who have risen to the position of detective normally are pretty quick to be able to figure things out, and one thing you need to realise pretty quickly is that you need to have a great Detective Resume and cover letter in order to find the best jobs.

You can start any application with a Detective cover letter. This is the normal way to apply for any job and a detective position is no different. You need to apply for the job formally, and try to indicate why you feel that you are suitable for the position. It is recommended that you mention your previous experience in the force as well as any training that you have had relating directly to the position of detective.

With the Detective cover letter finished, you will need to move on to your Detective Resume. This Resume needs to start off with an objective. This is where you indicate what sort of role you are looking for in your next job. It is important that this matches up to the job description of the position you are applying for. You should show ambition, knowledge of this particular detective position, and allude to prior experience which has propelled you to make this move.

The following section of your Detective Resume should be about your working experience. Start off with your most recent position and work backwards from there. If this was a detective position then you can relay some of your duties in your previous position, but as many people are moving from another role, it is still important to list what was expected with you, as in the police force there will be overlapping qualities in other positions. Mention if you can your ability to analyse situations, your ability to be able to work with other departments in order to solve cases, and your ability to work with other officers at close quarters.

The final section of your Detective Resume should be about your qualifications. As a member of the police force you will of course have your police training program, but on top of this it is very useful to have some sort of degree behind you, preferably a psychology based degree, or a criminal justice degree, or something related to either of these. Make sure you delve into your time during your degree to indicate just what it was that you got out of your degree in order to be able to work your way up to the position of Detective.
