Developer Resumes
If you are a developer, it is always wise to give a little bit more information for your Developer Resume than you would in a normal resume. Firstly of all you need to show how knowledgeable you are, and this sometimes requires some extra sections in your Resume. As with all applications, though, you must put together a decent covering letter to go with the Resume.
Start things off with your Developer cover letter. Try to make sure that this is a brief letter, which should convey that you would like to be considered for the advertised post, that you are suitable for the post, and that you look forward to the opportunity of being able to work for such a decorated firm. Always make sure you know plenty about the company you are applying to before completing any of your application.
Once you have finished your Developer cover letter it is time to start work on your Resume. You Developer Resume must really catch the eye, and you can help to do this by having a very strong objective statement. Try to make this short, with no more than two sentences. You need to map out your aspirations for your career over the next five years, but make sure that these aspirations are realistically possible within the company that you are applying to.
The next section of your Developer Resume should be your skills, abilities and knowledge. Here you can talk the reader through some of your main attributes and strengths. List all of the languages you are able to work with, and try to use examples of times when you have been creative to succeed for your previous companies.
The next section should cover your experience. Try to elaborate on roles which are related to the position you are seeking. Don’t be afraid to talk confidently about yourself, and to extol your own virtues. Make sure that this section runs in reverse chronological order, and give more information about your most recent positions. There’s no need to mention too much about early jobs, or jobs which do not have much to do with development, but try not to leave any gaps in your Resume.
Your Developer Resume is going to need a section about your qualifications. Again this section must run in reverse order starting with your most recent qualification. Try to discuss in detail any qualifications that you have which were gained primarily for use as a developer, but you can also refer back to high school grades if you think that they are relevant to your application.
