Draftsman Resumes
As a Draftsman you will understand the remarkable amount of technical skill required to carry out your role. Because of this, it is sometimes quite hard to land a role as a draftsman. You will need to be able to create a fantastic Draftsman Resume in order to be considered for the best roles in your industry.
Any application should start with a cover letter. This letter should show that you would like to apply for the post in question, and you should also show why you should be considered. Try to use examples from your working experience and feel free to mention your qualifications here but remember that you are going to be discussing all of this in your Draftsman Resume, so you don’t want to go into too much detail.
Once the Draftsman cover letter is finalised you should start work on the Draftsman Resume. This should be headed with an objective. Your objective should show what sort of work you are looking for, and it is very important that you read the job description carefully before writing this. You want to how that you are interested in the sort of job you are applying for. You can also highlight some of your skills in your objective by saying that you would like to find a role where you are able to continue your impressive work with Computer Aided Design tools as well as being able to utilise my ability to imaginatively create technical drawings from scratch for both commercial and residential buildings. This shows that you will be a good match for the job at hand and also shows off one or two of your skills.
The next section of your Draftsman Resume should sell your working experience. Run this in reverse order starting with your current position, and make sure you give details about each position. Talk about what was expected in each job, and be specific. If you were required to use a certain type of computer aided design software indicate which one you used. If you did scale drawings by hand on a regular basis you should mention this too. Highlight any landmark developments that you might have been involved in and obviously if your work has won any awards then this needs to be mentioned!
The final section of your Draftsman Resume should focus on your qualifications. With any luck you will have a degree in technical drawing or architecture itself, but this is not always necessary. You may well have started out without technical training but the knowledge you have picked up along the way will qualify you for many jobs. If you can highlight any qualifications specifically for the role, then make sure that you discuss the elements of this training that have helped your career in particular. If you have worked your way up, then you should discuss any training you have had on the job, such as CAD courses you may have been on which would have aided your design skills on computer.
