Finisher Resumes
Being a finisher can mean many different things, but more often than not it indicates a well skilled position. A Furniture finisher for example will be expected to take stock of furniture built, assess the quality, and make the necessary amendments to the structure. Obviously, a position of such trust is not easy to come by, and as such you will be expected to pay as much detail to your Finisher Resume and cover letter.
You should start any application with a Finisher cover letter. This is a chance for you to introduce yourself to the reader, to apply for the job formally and for you to put forward a couple of reasons why you think you should be considered for the job. Mention training and working experience but save most of this information for your Finisher Resume.
Once the Finisher cover letter is completed, you can move on to the Finisher Resume. This should start with an objective statement. Make sure that this statement shows what sort of position you are looking for, and also make sure that your description of such a job is a close parallel to the job description for the position which you are applying for. You can also benefit yourself here buy explaining some of your skills within the objective. You can say that you are looking for a finisher position which will give you the opportunity to continue your excellent finishing work, specifically in a training role. This shows that you have elevated yourself to a management or at least training role, which shows that you must be a highly skilled finisher.
The next section of your finisher Resume should be about your previous working experience. Here you should go through all of your previous positions and explain what you did in each one. Try to mention things like the level of responsibility you were given, indicate any highlights of your jobs, such as winning awards for your finishing skills, or by increasing sales due to the quality of the product after it had been finished.
The last section of your Finisher Resume should be about your qualifications. This section will completely depend on what sort of finisher you are, and what sort of position you are applying for, but most finishers will have had some sort of training or an apprenticeship. If you are a concrete finisher you should be a member of the American Association of Trade Members and indeed, many different finishers will fall under this umbrella. Also, you may well have a certificate of completion from trade school, and it is important to mention this too.
