Guard Resumes

If you have ever worked as some sort of guard, you will know that it is a position which carries an enormous amount of responsibility. You have to be trusted, and as such, people do not become employed as guards lightly. For that reason, you need to make sure that you put together an absolutely superb Guard Resume and cover letter.

You should start off your application with a Guard cover letter. This letter will give you the chance to apply formally for the position, and it will also allow you to point out a few facts to the reader which will hopefully persuade them that you are worthy of consideration for the position. You could mention training you have received, or some relevant experience, but you need to make sure that you do not give too much detail about this at this stage because you will be going into more detail about these subjects in your Guard Resume.

Once the Guard cover letter has been completed, you can move on to the Guard Resume. This needs to ideally start with an objective. This should be a simple sentence which indicates what sort of position you are looking for. It is also a good opportunity for you to extol some of your virtues. You can quite easily say that you are hoping to find a position which will allow you to continue your high standard of work in operating and securing security devices whilst maintaining the safety of those around you. This sentence not only indicates that you are after the sort of work that has been advertised, it also shows that you believe yourself to be highly skilled, and it shows several facets to your abilities.

The following paragraph of your Guard Resume should focus on your skills. Start off by mentioning how many years of experience you have amassed as a guards, and then list your key skills. These should be things like a great ability to focus on the work at hand, an understanding of the mechanisms of safety and security devices, the necessary skill to be able to deal with difficult people, a great communicator, someone able to compile reports. You should mention that you have great attention to detail and you are able to react to changing situations quickly and easily.

The next section of your Guard Resume should be about your previous working experience. You should list all of your previous jobs in a reverse chronological order. Make sure that you go into detail about each post explaining what your day to day duties were. You should be mentioning things like foot patrols you carried out to assess security, kept a watch for irregularities with your premises, monitored CCTV images in order to provide protection to the site, and liaised with other departments regarding security issues.

The final section of your Guard Resume should focus on your qualifications. As a guard you will hope to have some sort of self defence training, and plenty of other on the job training. There is no specific training course for guards, but if you have any certificates such as first aid or health and safety certificates then you should list them in this section.
