How Do I Upload A Resume
One of the most common questions regarding resumes is how do I upload a resume? To someone who is interested in applying for positions for perhaps the first time; or maybe, someone who has not applied via the internet before-this relatively simple process can seem very complicated. Here are tips for proper uploading of a resume for submission to a specific position.
The first step in understanding uploading of a resume is actually to understand why employers require you to do so for their open positions. Basically, for both employer and employee, the sending of resumes through email is so much more convenient and better for the environment. You use less paper, and the turnaround time in sending and receiving the resume is instantaneous. Thus, the miracle of the internet. This makes the whole process easier and faster for the process of employment.
So, when an employer asks that you email a resume in a particular format-other than in the body of the email-how do you do it? They are basically asking you to send them an email with an uploaded version of your email, which means you have uploaded it from your own computer into an email, ready for sending electronically over the Internet to the potential employer. The process is a lot simpler than you think. Here’s how to do it:
1. Have an updated and polished resume in word or pdf format.
2. Create an email with the proper email address and fill in the position title in the subject line.
3. Create a customized cover letter in the body of the email.
4. Find the “attach” button on your email program’s number of options-should be located at the top of the email body.
5. Click on “attach” (or sometimes an icon of a paperclip).
6. You will receive a drop down menu that will ask if you want to attach the document as a picture or document. Choose “document”.
7. If the attachment was successful, you will see the attached file title with a paperclip at the top or bottom of your document.
8. Click “send”, and you have just uploaded your resume for proper employer application.
