Hygienist Resumes
As a dental hygienist you will be used to making sure the work that you do is completed to a perfect standard, and you need to pay as close attention to your Hygienist Resume and cover letter. Any application needs to be well thought out and show you to be an expert in your field.
You should start off with a Hygienist cover letter. Use this letter to apply formally for the job, and you should also use this opportunity to explain why you should be considered for the post. You can use your experience or qualifications to make this point but don’t dwell on the subject because you will be going in to more detail about this in your Hygienist Resume.
With your Hygienist cover letter finished it will be time to focus on the resume. You should start this off with an objective which spells out what sort of position you are looking for. Make sure that you follow the job description closely when you are doing this. You can also use this as an opportunity to show off some of your skills. You can say that you are looking for a role as a hygienist which will challenge you to use all of your knowledge built up from experience gained working under an orthodontist. This shows that you are looking for the appropriate work, and also that you have received excellent training from someone who is an expert in the field.
The following section of your Hygienist Resume should focus on your professional experience. You should list all of your previous jobs and explain exactly what you did in each one. You should be looking to mention things like your ability to communicate with patients effectively and your skills in instructing the proper treatment of teeth in order to ensure a high level of dental hygiene. You should also indicate your ability to understand and operate within a computer system which keeps track of patients dental records, and you should try to mention wherever possible and applicable your skills in the area of examinations. You could mention your ability to conduct dental x rays, the wide range of dental procedures you are able to carry out, including routine teeth cleaning and general hygiene treatments.
The final section of your Hygienist Resume should focus on your qualifications. Ideally you will have some form of certification allowing you to trade as a dental hygienist and you may even have a more formal qualification than that. The important thing is to expand on any qualifications which explain how you have developed your skills in this area. You can also mention your general education but keep this to a list of results only without expanding on the qualification itself.
