Ms. Shawna Parks
United States District Court for Southern District of Florida
777 Court Street
Tallahassee, FL 77644
Dear Judge Parks,
I am set to graduate from the University of Florida-Law in May of 2010, and would like to be considered for the clerkship position that opens this fall in your court.
At present, aside from studying Law, I also work as an editor for the Tallahassee Law Review which helps me to stay current on legal issues, cases, and exemptions. Working in concert with my education, this position allows me to apply analytical thinking to my intensive knowledge of law in practice and methodology; and see how it is applied in various small and big courtroom cases.
Academically, I rank in the top 3% of my class, and have worked for the past two years as an assistant to one of my professors at the University of Florida-Law-helping him research and define his goals for his upcoming lecture and document series on Family Law.
My undergraduate field of study was also conducted at the University of Florida-Law; in which I graduated Cum Laude with recommendations from most of my professors as to my work ethic, gpa, and general knack for the law. I am interested in learning as much as possible from this esteemed clerkship with your court, Your Honor; and would love the opportunity to expand upon my intensive education, love for the law, and dedication to my career to work under your supervision.
Please let me know a time that we might speak to further discuss my candidacy for your clerkship. I can be reached at 555-555-5555. Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Genai Porter
