Summary: An agile project manager serves as a team leader that makes sure the project is done on time with the best possible quality. The agile project manager pushes and motivates workers to get the project moving. He/she is the primary decision maker and is responsible for checking the employees’ quality of work.

Duties of an Agile Project Manager: An agile project manager has to be in touch with the clients at all times to be able to give directions and critique the job done by the workers. He/she takes part in planning for the project, figuring out how much the project is going to cost, and where they will get the materials needed. Agile project managers assess what kind of work needs to be done, how long the project will take, and what resources they will be needing for the project’s completion. Education and Training Requirements for an Agile Project Manager: For aspiring agile project managers, companies usually prioritize those with a bachelor’s degree in applied science, majoring in project management. Those with degrees in different business courses are also accepted. Agile project managers with a master’s degree usually have an advantage. Normally, the job is given as a promotion to people who have already been working in the company for several years.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements for an Agile Project Manager: To become a successful agile project manager, one must be focused, driven and has good attention to detail. He/she must be a team player who can motivate as well as call out mistakes. He/she must be good with both oral and written communications. He/she must be able to work under pressure, and must have good time management.

Working Conditions: On a normal day, an agile project manager works in an office for 8 hours, 5 days a week. When working on a project, he/she may work longer hours, and might have to do fieldwork especially when talking to clients and manufacturers.
