Advertising Account Manager Job Description



The job of an Advertising Account Manager involves managing multiple client accounts. He/she works in an advertising agency and serves as the link between the client and agency. These managers pitch projects to the client, manage budgets and ensure that client’s goals and needs are met on projects.

Education/Experience Requirements for the job of an Advertising Account Manager: A successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in advertising, business management, marketing or other related fields, and at least 3 years industry experience.

Skills of an Advertising Account Manager include but are not limited to: Effective verbal and written communication skills, proven interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills, advanced knowledge of advertising practices and policies; solid networking skills, ability to handle pressure, meet deadlines and work with a wide range of people. Advertising account managers should also be detail-oriented, creative, analytical and be able to multi-task and think outside of the box.

Specific work elements of the job as an Advertising Account Manager include but are not limited to: Representing the firm and interacting with clients directly; creating new businesses and maintaining existing clients; managing portfolio of multiple accounts; dealing with all aspects of an advertising campaign, managing the work of account executives, achieving sales targets, leading day-to-day project activities, researching new business leads, attending client meetings, pitching for new business, and completing administrative work as required.
