Advertising Sales Manager Job Description
The job of an Advertising Sales Manager involves developing sales plans, generating new clients, creating presentations and proposals to clients, working closely with colleagues in the advertising department, developing advertising packages to meet customer budget, needs and expectations, meeting sales quotas by bringing in new business clients and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
Education/Experience Requirements for the job of an Advertising Sales Manager: A successful candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in communications, business, finance, advertising, marketing, economics, or a similar field. Training is usually completed through college internships and entry-level positions after graduation. To reach managerial status, at least 3 years experience in sales, marketing, advertising or any relevant field plus at least 1 year of supervisory experience is usually required.
Skills of an Advertising Sales Manager include but are not limited to: Excellent sales and negotiation, presentation and verbal/written communication skills; proven leadership, motivational, and staff training skills; solid sales planning and strategy skills; advanced knowledge in web-based ad networks and ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure with a team or independently.
Specific work elements of the job as an Advertising Sales Manager include but are not limited to: Working as a consultant to clients, advising and assisting clients with media planning, budgeting, marketing, and developing marketing strategies for specific products, services or accounts; developing relationships with new clients, advertising agency leads and other connections; developing engaging product proposals; collaborating with agencies and meeting sales goals, among others.
