Aeronautical Engineer Job Description
The job of an aeronautical engineer involves applying technological and scientific principles in researching, designing, maintaining, testing and developing the performance of military and civil aircrafts, weapons systems, missiles, space vehicles and satellites.
Education/Experience Requirements for the job of an aeronautical engineer: A candidate must possess a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering, aeronautics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, thermal dynamics, fluid dynamics, computer science or any related field. Some employers may look for a pilot’s license and a Master’s degree or Ph.D in mechanical engineering, aeronautics, aerospace engineering and aeronautical engineering.
Skills of an aeronautical engineer include but are not limited to: excellent knowledge in science and mathematics; advanced knowledge in engine systems and aircraft structures; a good understanding of thermodynamics and aerodynamics; superb analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced mathematical and computer-aided design skills; a good understanding of thermodynamics and aerodynamics; knowledge of design techniques, engineering principles and mechanical processes used in aircraft.
