Aeronautical Research Engineer Job Description
The job of an aeronautical research engineer involves researching, developing and evaluating design criteria, processes, methods, instrumentation and equipments for aerospace and aeronautical products.
Education/Experience Requirements for the job of an aeronautical project engineer: A successful candidate must possess a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, aeronautics, fluid dynamics, thermal dynamics, or any related field. Some companies prefer candidates with a Master’s degree or PhD, plus work experience on specific fields related to their company.
Skills of an aeronautical research engineer include but are not limited to: considerable knowledge of engineering research procedures, techniques and methods; advanced knowledge in engineering principles; ability to implement aeronautical engineering research studies; ability to direct work of personnel; excellent oral and written skills; and superb interpersonal skills.
Specific work elements of the job as an aeronautical research engineer include but are not limited to: conducting research on assigned subject; participating in literature research; preparing budget estimates and recommendations for aeronautical equipments and supplies; working directly with research technicians; developing procedures, facilities and devices to conduct a specific study; supervising the collection of data; evaluating data using statistical methods; assisting in the publication of articles, scientific reports and bulletins on research results; and performing other related tasks as required.
