Agency Account Manager Job Description
The job of an Agency Account Manager involves managing and growing relationships with select agencies and providing the best possible marketing solutions to both existing and new clients. He/she is also responsible for supervising the work of account executives, managing budgets and ensuring client needs are met at all times.
Education/Experience Requirements for the job of an Agency Account Manager: A successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in business, advertising, management, marketing or a similar field and at least 3 years sales experience and 1 year experience in a managerial position. Senior agency account managers are required to obtain a Master’s degree in business or any related field.
Skills of an Agency Account Manager include but are not limited to: Strong time management, leadership and organization skills; effective interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; advanced knowledge in sales, business and advertising principles, practices and laws as well as solid presentation and negotiation skills. He/she must also be highly detail-oriented, confident, persuasive and has the ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team.
Specific work elements of the job as an Agency Account Manager include but are not limited to: Generating new business, managing portfolios of agency accounts; overseeing all campaign aspects and project management activities; attending client meetings; leading and training account executives; presenting sales reports to clients and executives; achieving sales targets and meeting budgets; and expanding relationships with existing clients, among others.
