Applications Engineer Job Description
The job of an applications engineer is to coordinate in planning, designing and installing machinery or equipment in an industrial environment using state-of-the-art instruments, advanced computer systems and knowledge of programming and engineering.
Education/Experience Requirements for the job of an applications engineer: A successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty plus 0-2 years experience in the field or any related area.
Skills of an applications engineer include but are not limited to: knowledge of commonly-used procedures, practices and concepts within a particular field (such as law, IT, etc); excellent oral and written communication skills needed in reporting projects to a supervisor; ability to work under minimum supervision and using knowledge of pre-established guidelines and instructions to perform the tasks required.
Specific work elements of the job as an applications engineer include: researching, collecting and reporting information on the capacity and ability of company products and its competing equipments; collaborating with staff members in the design and development of systems or equipments; redesigning existing systems to fulfill the needs of a company or customer; providing reports about equipment functionality and capability to the sales department; and serving as a technical liaison to the company’s sales department.
