How To Get A Security Guard Job
Working as a security guard can be a highly rewarding career choice. You can work in the knowledge that you are helping to protect people and property, but it certainly isn’t a job that everyone is cut out for. For this sort of work you do need to be quite fearless, you need to have great concentration skills and you also need to be physically fit. If you think that you have these qualities, then it might just be that you will be suitable for a security guard job. Follow our hints on how to maximise your chances of landing a job as a security guard.
1. Find out about licences. Some states insist that you have a licence in order to be able to work as a security guard, others do not. You need to find out about the protocol in your state before you go any further with your thoughts on becoming a security guard.
2. Get funding for your licence. If you do need a licence, you may find that some security companies who are recruiting may be happy to pay for at least some, if not all of your training.
3. Get the licence yourself. If you cannot find someone to help you out with the cost of security guard training, then it might just be the best thing for you to qualify off your own back. Any company which is looking to secure the work of a security guard is going to be very happy at the prospect of not having to contribute to the cost of enrolling someone on a course before they have even started work for them!
4. Use your experience. This doesn’t have to be in security or something similar. Of course, if you have early retirement from the police force then this is going to stand you in good stead for the job, but if you have no actual experience of working as a security guard, you can draw on experiences in your normal everyday life to highlight your ability to be responsible for your actions and those around you.
