How to get a Pilot job

Qualifying to become a pilot is a long and arduous task. Before you set out on this long journey you need to consider whether you have the necessary skills needed to qualify. Do you have great concentration skills? Are you scientific? Do you have great hand to eye coordination? Are you good with machinery? Do you enjoy heights? All of these things are essential to you if you ever make it to the stage of being a pilot, so you had better think carefully before proceeding. If you still think you can do this, then follow our hints and tips below to get a pilot job.

1. Find a flight instructor. The first problem with this is that it can be expensive, but that is the price you pay for wanting to be a pilot. The minimum flight time is forty hours before you can get your private flight certificate, but more often than not it will take you more like sixty hours of flying experience.

2. Get the degree. You can do a four year degree in Aviation although any bachelor’s degree will be good enough with all of the other requisite flight certificates.

3. Instrument rating and commercial certificate. These are what you really need to get you up in the sky for proper pilot jobs. To get the commercial certificate you will need a total of two hundred and fifty hours of flying time! Follow this with your multi-engine, certified instructor instrument and multi engine instructor ratings and after a good 500 or 00 hours of flight time you should be well enough qualified to start to apply for jobs.

4. Find jobs online. There is a great site called aviationemployment.com which will allow you to input your details and attempt to find work. There are many more of these sites out there and you should be looking at every single one.
5. Have a look at typical job boards such as monster and career builder. These places offer much more normal jobs, but you will be able to search for pilot jobs.

6. Send your resume off to Aviation associations. Doing this will get your name out there and certainly help you in your quest for a pilot job.

There is a lot of hard work ahead of you, but if you follow the tips above, you will have a great chance of success. The key is becoming qualified. After this, you stand a great chance of landing a pilot job.
