Air Force Jobs

For every pilot who flies an Air Force plane, there are thousands of people on the ground working to make sure the aircraft has a safe landing. If you dream of becoming a fighter pilot, you’ll need 20/20 vision, A1 health and outstanding academic ability. Very few measure up – but that needn’t mean they can’t enjoy a rewarding career in the Air Force, with its countless opportunities for service and training.

New recruits will find a vast array of Air Force jobs to choose from, including some unexpected opportunities. As well as the technical careers you would expect – aircraft maintenance, for example – there are openings for many ‘civilian’ type jobs ranging from cooking to accountancy. As with any large organization, there is a constant need for support staff at ground level.

Good reasons for choosing an Air Force job include the security the service can offer you. If you’re willing to commit to staying in your role for a certain length of time – depending on the post and the cost of training – your reward is a long-term career. Add in the opportunities for further education and training, the chance to learn more skills while being paid for it, and you can see why joining the Air Force is such a popular choice for many. Most recruits leave the service with the sort of skills and training which make it easy for them to find employment elsewhere.

Travel is an added bonus. For people who want to see the world and work with others as part of a vital team, it is well worth finding out what an Air Force job has to offer. The lifestyle is superb, with ample opportunities for sport and hobbies, and promotion prospects are excellent. Enlisted members of the Air Force receive a basic salary as well as many other bonus and allowances. A first year recruit earns around $1,200 per month, rising to $2, 400 in the second year.
