In addition to teaching you how to become a soldier, the Army will train you in any one of 10 job categories. An Army job as an officer require extra training, but you have the chance to become a non-commissioned officer, rising through the ranks, without having to go through officer training school.

If you are in good health, and a US citizen or permanent resident alien, between the ages of 17 and 41 and have a high school diploma or equivalent, you would be the ideal candidate for an Army job. Recruits are also expected to be of good moral standing. Specific jobs might require more qualifications, but many Army jobs do not ask for pre-entry training.

Enlisted pay starts at $1339 per month with less than four months of service, but steady, and swift, pay progress is possible.
