Athletic Trainer Jobs
If you have an interest in fitness and sports, and you enjoy working closely with people then the position of Athletic Trainer is a great position.
With more and more people trying to break into top sporting professions there has never been a better time to be an athletic trainer. Sportsmen are having to compete more often, for larger parts of the year in all sports and this generally means there are more injuries, and more sportsmen, and more need for athletic trainers.
To be able to move into this sort of work you ideally need to have a batchelor’s degree but there is no pre requisite that this must be in sports science, or something similar. It will inevitably help to have a relevant degree, but as long as you have trained for the National Athletic Trainers Association certification, you will be well qualified for the position. You also need to be registered as a qualified first aider, and you need to have been trained to carry out CPR.
You need to understand diet and fitness and you should also be fully conservant with post performance treatment in order to be considered for the best positions.
This is a great job to do with a great deal of time spent outdoors, the opportunity to try and help someone, and the thrill of seeing your clients successful in whatever it is they do, thanks to your expertise and care.
An athletic trainer can expect to be well rewarded for their efforts. The average salary in the United States is around the $40,000 mark but it is not unusual for an athletic trainer with a solid working background with a few years experience to earn upwards of $60,000 per annum.
