Audio Engineer Jobs
If you have a great technical ability coupled with a passion for music or performance of some kind, then working as an audio engineer could be a rewarding career for you.
Audio engineers normally use recording equipment to record, mix or master live performance, music, film, theatre or video game sound. It is important to have a passion for one of these areas as an understanding of the material you are recording is essential.
If you have these interests then an audio engineer job can be one of the most rewarding. You will have the chance to work with people who are producing great film or music, and you can also put your imprint on the finished work by utilising your skills.
Entry into this position can be achieved quite easily, normally with a vocational trainging program which should be completable within one year. It is also possible to break into this industry without any experience at all, although you will normally have to find work experience and perhaps offer your services for free in order to build up enough experience to be able to do the job. Most applications for positions are won or lost through the strength of your previous recording work so it is a good idea to build up a strong portfolio.
The future of sound recording is looking very good. With the advent of High definition T.V. and Blu Ray DVD the visual quality on offer these days is very strong. These industries have to keep up on the audio front so people will always require a really top notch audio engineer.
Salary for an audio engineer varies wildly, but a fairly typical salary would be between $40,000 and $50,000 per annum. Manage to rise to the top of your field, though, and the sky is the limit for audio engineers working with the best performers in the world. If you get this far, you can expect to earn well in excess of $100,000 per year.
