Audio Production Jobs
If you have a great passion for music and sound, then the position of Audio producer could be for you. The people who work in this profession need to feel strongly about what they are doing because it is not always an easy industry to succeed in. It requires patience and determination, but if you are passionate about music then it can ultimately be one of the most exciting industries to be involved in. You will need to be able to work with people who are sometimes difficult to work with, and be able to interpret what people want their audio to sound like. It is your job to create the sound that they are looking for so being empathetic will help.
Entry into this industry is best from the position of post graduate, preferably with a degree in production, but there are many other ways to find your first position. It is often a good idea to try and get some unpaid work experience as this can lead to gaining contacts in the industry, and it might even land you your first job.
The future of audio production jobs has to be described as uncertain. With more and more people recording their own music at home on Lap tops, it is important that producers are prepared to adapt and diversify, depending on where the future takes music recording. If you are flexible and keep up to date with the changing face of the recording industry you should be fine.
Pay for an audio producer is reasonable. There is a big range, but the average probably falls at about $50,000 per annum. This can of course be much higher if you manage to have a particularly successful career.
This position requires dedication, but if you have that, then you will be hard pressed to find a more rewarding vocation.
