Bank Jobs
If you have a flair for numbers, enjoy dealing with the public and feel comfortable with a front of house position, then a bank job could be a wise career choice for you. Many people start off their banking careers as front line banking clerks, and it is this position which will shape you for any higher positions you might be able to apply for in the months and years after starting your banking career. To even consider this role you will need to be good with money and have great attention to detail,. But if you tick all of these boxes it can be a most rewarding career to launch yourself into.
The first advantage you will have is great banking advice from the people you are working with. You will know in absolutely no time how to get the best mortgage, and how best to save the money that you earn. It is also possible at some banks that you will be offered an account with preferential rates from the general public. Beyond these unusual advantages you will also enjoy the benefit of meeting new people every day.
Entry into this sort of post is not too taxing either. Banks frequently recruit for new positions straight from school and anyone who has undertaken a mathematics or business course should be up to speed with the necessary computer skills and calculating skills required to undertake this starting position in a bank. This is not to say that banks won’t consider taking on older people to work on the front counter. It’s quite the opposite and most mature applications will be given a great deal of consideration.
The future looks ok for bank clerks, despite recent problems with the banks all over the world. The fact is, even when there are problems, the national governments seem to fund the banks to stay open, so it would appear that the positions are relatively safe for now.
Pay is obviously not enormous going straight into the banks from school, but you can expect a healthy salary of $25,000 to start off with.
