Bank Teller Jobs
If you enjoy coming face to face with the general public and you have great communication skills coupled with a head for numbers then being a bank teller could be right up your alley. This great position allows you to interact with members of the general public all day and there is never a dull moment.
One of the great advantages of working in a bank as a teller is that you stand to gain a great deal of insider knowledge through your colleagues who you work alongside. A good relationship with your bank manager will mean great advice regarding how to save your money and where to save it. You will also find that working in the same place as you bank your money makes it a lot easier to clear cheques and check on your own account!
The educational requirements for the position of bank teller are not too prohibitive. You will need decent results from High School but nothing more than this. It will of course be imperative that you pass your math exam, and having taken business will also help you to land a role, but as long as your results were fairly strong, you should have a chance to work in this role.
After the last few years there has been a big focus on whether banks can survive in a poor economic climate, but after coming out of one of the worst recessions in memory it is interesting to note how important the stability of banks is. It seems clear that should any financial institution run into trouble, the national government will bail it out. This should mean that even in circumstances in which a bank is struggling, there should be no likelihood of losing your job.
Pay is not terribly high as a bank teller, but you can expect to take home in the region of $25,000 per annum, with this rising after a short period of service.
