Pharmacist Resumes
As a pharmacist you will be well aware of the importance of your position. It is not a job given lightly, and as such you will have to prepare a very thorough Pharmacist Resume and cover letter.
You should start your application with a Pharmacist cover letter. Use the letter to introduce yourself to your prospective employer, and to apply formally for the job. You can also use the letter in order to explain why you feel that you would be suited for the job, and to do this you can use your experience in the field coupled with your suitable qualifications. Remember though, that you will be discussing these very same subjects in your Pharmacist Resume, so you need to make sure that you mention this only briefly in your Pharmacist cover letter.
Once you have finished the cover letter you can move on to your resume. A good resume always starts with an objective statement, and this one should be no different. Try to encapsulate what sort of job you are looking for in one high impact sentence, and bear in mind that this statement needs to indicate that you are looking for a position somewhat similar to the job at hand, so make sure you use the job description to guide you.
The following section of your Pharmacist Resume should be a summary of your skills. Start by saying how many years of experience you have gained, and then go on to list your attributes. These should be things like an ability to monitor drug therapy for individual patients, a great attention to detail which allows you to monitor and keep safe the drugs on the premises, an ability to assess patients, and an expertise in organising other members of staff.
The next section of your Pharmacist Resume should be about your Professional experience. You will need to list all of your positions in reverse order and be prepared to speak at length about each position. Explain what you did on a day to day basis with examples of your work. You can discuss things like advising on site doctors about the side effects of drugs and their toxicity and also the relevance of long term use, you can mention your need to maintain stock levels, and you can also mention if you were responsible for ensuring the security of the drugs on site.
The final section of your Pharmacist Resume should be about your qualifications. Realistically you need to have at least a degree in Pharmacy in order to be able to land one of these roles, and it will help immeasurably if you have either a masters, a PhD or have had an intern in a Pharmacy prior to working as a pharmacist.
