Photographer Resumes

Photographers work for all sorts of different publications but whatever sort of photography you are doing, it is always difficult to land a full time role. To manage to do this you have to be immensely talented, but you also need to have a great Photographer Resume and cover letter.

You should start off an application form with a Photographer cover letter. Use this letter to apply formally for the position and also to indicate why you think that you should be considered for the role. You might like to mention your qualifications or your working experience, but make sure that you just touch upon these subjects. You will be talking about these subjects in more depth in your Photographer Resume.

Once you have finished the Photographer cover letter you should move straight on to your resume. You can start this by writing an objective statement, which should explain exactly what sort of position you are looking for. Make sure though that your objective makes sense to the prospective employer in relation to the job that they are advertising. You can do this by using the job description as a guide.

The next section of your Photographer Resume should be a summary of your best skills in the job. You can mention for how long you have been a professional photographer, and then you should write a list of your strengths. Here you can mention things like an ability to find the right shot at the right time, a full understanding of shutter speed techniques and when to apply them, as well as an understanding of what sort of photography is required for what sort of feature. You can also mention your dark room techniques and skills here too. You should also indicate your ability to use a variety of different cameras and lenses.

The next section of your Photographer Resume should be about your professional experience. You should list your previous jobs and expand on every single post, explaining what you did on a day to day basis. Try to mention things like having to use Photoshop or similar programs in order to edit work, explain if you spend time evaluating potential photographs, evaluating the composition of the shot. Explain about positions where you were expected to deal with your own file transfers of digital images, and also explain about positions where you only used SLR photography and your own skills in the dark room.

The Final section of your Photographer Resume should be about your qualifications. Hopefully you will have a degree in Photography, or even a Masters in photography, but neither is absolutely essential. You can take many photography courses, and any of these will be enough to land some roles, particularly if your application is backed up with an impressive portfolio of your photography.
