Planner Resumes


As a planner it is possible that you are from any number of planning backgrounds, but one thing that ties all planning jobs together is the need to produce a really effective application. Both the Planner Resume, and cover letter need to highlight your skills, experiences and qualifications for such a job, and with a position like this you can be sure that there will be plenty of competition for the job. Make sure that you put together a great application which really shows your planning skills in a variety of ways.

You should start off your application with a Planners cover letter. This letter should state your wish to be considered for the post, as well as why you think you are suitable. This can be answered with your past working experience, and you can mention particular projects here, but remember that you will be talking about this in more detail in your Planner Resume, so be brief. Finalise the letter with a reiteration of your desire to be considered and thank your prospective employer for taking the time to read your letter.

With the Planner cover letter completed, you should be ready to move onto your resume. This can be started off with a powerful objective statement. This statement should show where you hope your career will take you over the next few years, but be sure to write something here that fits in with the company you are applying to.

The next section of your Planner Resume should be about your previous working background. This section should run backwards in order from the last or your current job title. This is an opportunity to really show what you are capable of, and you can really go into detail about previous positions. Feel free to talk about your responsibilities in previous jobs, and even go on to discuss certain plans you were involved in which became very successful. Don’t be reticent, when you really have to show yourself off!

The next section of your application should be your qualifications and your education. This paragraph should also be run in reverse order, and you should again elaborate on each course or qualification which you feel is relevant to the post for which you are applying. Try not to give too much detail about early qualifications such as your high school grades, because these will to a large degree be viewed as irrelevant to the role.

The final section of your Planner Resume is an opportunity to show that you are a great person to work with. To illustrate this point, you need to show that you are a great person to be with outside of work. Mention any groups, committees or societies that you are a member of as a way of showing that you can integrate well into groups of all kinds, which will show your prospective employers that you are someone that people get on with. It is important to be able to work in a team, and in the role of planner, you will be expected to work alongside many people in many different ways.
