Producer Resumes
As a producer it will be up to you to show that you have the necessary experience and expertise to be considered for a new job through the creation of your Producer Resume and cover letter. Try to remember that you really need to show that you have a proven track record in order to be considered for a role.
Start off your application with a Producer cover letter. This letter will indicate that you would like to be considered for this producer role, but you must also draw reference to why you think that you should be considered. Try to briefly give an idea of your career to date, but remember that this needs to be brief, so that you can expand upon the subject within your Producer Resume. Finish off your Producer cover letter by stating again that you would like to be considered for the role.
Your Producer Resume will have a slightly different format to most resumes. As usual you will be expected to start off your resume with an objective statement, which should give an indication of which direction you would like to see your career take over the next few years. If you are looking to be involved with a certain genre, make sure that this is the same genre that the producer job you are applying for is linked to, or the prospective employer may not think you suitable for the role.
The next section of your Producer Resume should be a highlights section. This is where you give a small paragraph of writing to encapsulate your career to date. Give your number of years experience in the industry, mention any strong points such as your ability to meet deadlines and great networking skills, and indicate any good contacts that you already have, without naming names!

You should list each production, the year of the production, and the part you played, which under normal circumstances should be producer, but earlier on in your career it may well have been a lower level position than this. This is fine to mention, because it shows a natural career progression.
Follow this section with some information about your education. Here you should pay special attention to any qualifications that you have achieved which are relevant to the post, and in the case of everything else simply listing them is fine.
The final section of your Producer Resume should be about yourself away from work. Try to paint a picture of yourself as someone who is easy going and fun to be around, because nobody wants to work with difficult or boring people. You should also mention any social networking groups that you are involved with, because this will show that you are likely to mingle with the right people in order to be able to make your production successful.
