How Should My Resume Look Like
This article provides information on How Should My Resume Look Like
When it comes to how your resume should look like, there are a number of topics to concern yourself with. Below, we discuss the most basic of these, to help you in the beginning stages of creating a resume, and/or possibly editing an existing resume; so you can optimize your chances of getting an interview.
1. Format
The first place to start when trying to create a resume that is in good form for a job position is to consider that how you arrange your career qualifications on a resume is very important to whether or not you look like a good candidate for the position. This can be taken in a number of different ways, and so to be more specific, you should understand that there are different formats for a candidate to choose from than just the one you may have seen online or from colleagues. The standard format that many people use is the chronological format, and could very well not be the best format for them or yourself; based on your career qualifications. A chronological format sets your resume up to focus on your employment history. This is great if you have a slew of continuous and consecutive places of employment to offer; but if your employment history has gaps or has mismatched fields or positions; you should probably consider another format, such as the skills based or functional resume. The functional resume format focuses its direction on the skills and achievements that you have had in your career, and less on the chronology of your previous employment. Lastly, you should consider the format that incorporates both focus on chronology of employment and the skills and achievements of your career; if and only if, you have impressive measure of both to show.
2. Demonstrative
Secondly, you want to sure that your resume stands out, and in the correct way. Few people applying for positions understand that the difference between making a resume effective through creativity in format is different from making a resume effective and unique through demonstrative language and content. The former of these should be avoided at all costs, and instead, the latter of these focused upon. What does this mean? Write to impress with action words, powerful language, and important responsibilities and achievements showcased.
3. No Frills
Which brings us to our third point? In making a resume that has the right presentation for positive application, one should always create their resume in an outline that is as simple and classic as possible. This means only use professional, straight lined fonts; use the right font sizes, never use other colors, no imaging, and go easy on bolding and underlining for effect. Though you may think that you need to make your resume stand out with some unique creative format choices and techniques, this is one of the worst choices that you could make-as employers see this approach as both distracting and unprofessional-which gives them two reasons to discard you as a candidate altogether.
