Accounting Resumes


If you work in accounts, then hopefully you will already be aware that it is critically important to make sure you put together a really good Accounting Resume and cover letter. People who work in accounts need to have a fantastic eye for detail, and anyone applying to work in this industry who supplies a prospective employer with a Resume with mistakes, will find it very hard to find a job!

Start things off by putting together a persuasive Accounting cover letter. The written word may not be your strong suit if you work in accounts, but there is no reason why you should not be able to put your points across effectively. Make sure that you acknowledge the job advert, and indicate that you would like to be considered for the post. You should also mention why you would be so good for the position, and you should state why you would relish filling this post. You can draw reference to previous experience and qualifications but be brief, because you will be expanding on these points within your Accounting Resume.

Once you have finalised your Accounting cover letter, it is time to start getting your teeth into your resume. Your Accounting Resume needs to start off with a hard hitting objective which gets the readers’ attention. This should outline where you see your career going, but be sure that you share similar views to your potential new company.

Follow your objective with a section about your previous experience. If you have been in the industry for a while, then this section should provide the largest section of your Accounting Resume/. Obviously you need to list your previous positions starting with your most recent or current, but more than that, you need to really expand on the posts, explaining what exactly it was that you did in all of those jobs. Explain when you were particularly successful, explain when you learned new skills, and explain what was great about these jobs. Don’t be afraid to sing your own praises from the rooftops!

The next paragraph of your Accounting Resume should be about your qualifications. You can skip anything that is not relevant to the position, but be sure to expand where necessary, and in particular when discussing any qualifications that are specifically for accountancy purposes.

The last section of your Accounting Resume should be about yourself. Tell your prospective employer that you are a fun person to be around who mixes well with groups, by highlighting membership of clubs or sports teams, and mention what your hobbies are too. This gives your prospective employers the chance to paint a mental picture of you, which will help them to choose the right person for the job.
