Administration Resumes
Whatever sort of Administration role you are looking for it is vitally important that you have a decent Administration cover letter and resume. Try to remember that an important part of any administrators job is to be well organized, and a bad resume is a sign of someone who is not well organized! You should start off by writing a really eye catching Administration cover letter.
This letter needs to mention that you are interested in applying for the job, and here you should mention the exact job for which you are applying, and then you need to state why you are good enough for the position, and why you think you will enjoy the role. Be sure to mention your skills, experience and qualifications for the job, but remember that your Administration Resume will be covering this in more detail, so just skim over this. You want to come across as keen and polite, which every administration employee should be!
Once on to your Administration Resume, you need to make sure that everything you write is absolutely perfect. In an admin job you often have to produce documents on behalf of other members of staff, so if your prospective employers find mistakes in this document, they are unlikely to consider you. Start things off with a powerful objective statement which explains in one simple sentence where you would like to see your career go. There is nothing wrong with declaring that you see yourself achieving more than the current position for which you are applying, as long as this sort of position falls into your long term plan. To show a totally different future to the job for which you are applying would be inadvisable to say the least.
Once you have come up with a strong objective, you should move onto a section about your experience. This section should list all of your previous positions starting with your most recent, and you should really look to expand on each of your previous positions wherever possible, both to show your understanding of the position and to show what you got out of the position personally. Try to show any progression within your career so far, and don’t be afraid to highlight occasions where you have achieved. This is the time to show off!
Once you have done this section, your Administration Resume needs a section on your qualifications. These should be listed in reverse order and again, you should expand on anything that is particularly relevant to your post. At the foot of this section you can also include any certificates or qualifications you have received while working in administration, such as typing awards or IT qualifications.
The last section should be all about yourself whilst out of the office. Try to put yourself across as an interesting sociable person, and list any memberships of any clubs that you are involved with. Try to show that you are a team player.
