Broadcast Media Resumes

The usual route into a Broadcast Media career is through a related degree. Some people do a specialist Broadcast Media Degree, but some people also study more generically with a general Media degree or even an English degree. Whichever, it’s your qualifications which count when you are applying for a related position so your Broadcast Media Resume needs to focus quite heavily on your education.

Your Broadcast Media Resume should be accompanied by a cover letter. This is a chance to introduce yourself and formally apply for the job. Include all of your contact details and then go on to explain which position you would like to apply for, where you saw the position advertised and why you would like to work for this particular company. You should have done some background reading on the company and be in a position to wax lyrical about them.

The next paragraph of your Broadcast Media cover letter should be a positive couple of sentences which explain why you think you are suitable for the post. You can draw reference here to your degree or training for the job, and of course you can mention your career highlights to date within the industry. Try not to go into too much detail about either of these topics – you have your Broadcast Resume in which you can give more detail. Your cover letter should be signed off with a polite but leading last sentence which should reiterate your desire to be considered for the job and persuade the prospective employer to contact you for interview.

When working on your Broadcast Media Resume you need to decide what sort of applicant you are. If you are fresh out of college or university then you should focus your Resume on your education. If you have been working in the industry for a few years or so then your focus should be your career.

After you have headed up the Broadcast Media Resume with your name, address, telephone number and e mail address you should start with a summary about your career so far. Note: this section can be missed if you are straight out of college. This summary should be brief and bullet pointed and should highlight positions you have worked in and successful programs you have worked on.

The next section should be your professional experience. If you are new to the industry, then try to include some work placement experience which you may have undertaken during your course. If you have some experience, this section is where you should expand on the short statements from the previous section. You can mention here all of your key duties relating to all the positions you have worked in.

The next section of your Broadcast Media Resume should be your education. Remember not to focus too closely on any subjects that don’t relate to the position. If you have only just finished your training then you should really break your degree down to its component parts in order to explain in what way you specialise and what areas of the industry you should excel in.

Finish your Broadcast Resume with a small section which can cover anything that you think will aid your application but which doesn’t naturally fall into any of the other sections of your Resume.
