Business Resumes

Your Business Resume must exude experience and understanding of your field of business. You need to have a fine grasp of how job applications work, given your experience. A Business cover letter is a must with any business job application. A cover letter shows a certain degree of respect for your prospective employer and is a formality that cannot be ignored.

Your Business cover letter should contain all of your contact details, including e mail address, and should be quite formal in its presentation. That means a fairly standard set of statements that are applicable every time you put together a Business Resume. You should state which position you are applying for, where you saw the position advertised and why you would like to be considered. You also need to have a slightly more expansive paragraph explaining why you think you are the most suitable person for the position. You can highlight working experience and relevant qualifications in this paragraph but you should remember that this is information that will be covered in your Business Resume so try to keep the factual information light and don’t fall into the trap of giving too much information because you will end up with a poorly balanced cover letter.

You should have a concluding sentence which must re state how keen you are on the position and that you would like to be considered for the role. You should also suggest to the employer that you will contact them on a pre determined date to follow up your application and to hopefully arrange an interview date!

Your Business Resume should be packed to the rafters with facts about your career and education. You don’t want too much filler material – keep to the point and focus on presenting the positive facts about yourself.

Start off with your name in a large font followed by all of your contact details. The rest of your Business Resume should be broken down into these sections: objective, summary, professional experience, education and a miscellaneous section at the end in which you can add any information that didn’t quite fit into the other, but you feel is important to your application.

Your Objective should be a statement which encapsulates your ambitions in your industry. Try to make this statement fall in line with the beliefs of the company you are applying for.

Your summary section of your Business Resume should be a quick run-down of your relevant skills, experience and qualifications. You can expand on these later in other sections so be brief and to the point.

Your professional experience section is an opportunity for you to give a bit more detail about your previous positions. This section should run backwards from your most recent or current position.

Your education section is also a good chance for you to explain more about your qualifications. Be sure to talk freely about positive results but don’t expand too heavily on subjects or qualifications that are not relevant to the position you are applying for.
