Consultant Resumes
Finding a good position in Consulting can be difficult. You will often be up against many high class competitors with a great deal of skills and experience. You Consultant Resume needs to be put together professionally and you should be looking to set yourself out from the crowd.
This all starts with a really good Consultant cover letter. Your first paragraph should detail the job you are applying for, why you think that you are the right person for the job and you should lightly touch upon previous experience. Make sure you use examples of your qualities – it is important that people can understand immediately why you are a good candidate. Let them be able to visualise you working in this role. To achieve this you need to answer all of the questions the job advert puts to you.
The second section of your Consultant cover letter should be no more than two paragraphs and you want to be covering previous experience in a bit more detail, and you should at some point have a focus on a particular occasion in your professional career which highlights why you would make a good consultant for the company. You should also spend some time focusing on why you interested in this job, what your long term career goals are, and you should mention a little bit about the firm you are applying to, to show that you have done your homework.
Finish off your Consultant cover letter by very briefly reiterating what you have already said, and say why you think you would make a good consultant for them. Your contact details should also be included in your closing paragraph.
With the cover letter out of the way you should be ready to start work on your Consultant Resume. Your Resume should start off with your contact information. Make sure to include your name, a full address, mobile and landline telephone numbers and an active e mail address.
Your Consultant Resume must include a career objective. In this section show your targets for your career and explain what you aspire to. Make sure that these goals tie in with the application at hand.
The next topic should be you work experience, and the highlights of your career. You should list any major achievements first, which could be anything you think is related to this particular position. You should use bullet points for this section and try to limit it to about five positive occurrences in your career. Following this you should list your work experience in reverse chronological order. Be aware that a subsequent interview will be largely based on your previous experience, so make sure you can back up what you say here.
The next section in your Consultant Resume should focus on qualifications and awards. As a Consultant you should be well educated and experienced, and you may well have picked up several awards over the years. Don’t be afraid to show off your skills, because if you don’t sing your praises, then no one else will.
You should finish off your Consultant Resume again by listing your contact details. You can also add references here if you wish, although you may wish to wait to be asked for references.
