Cosmetology Resumes
As a Cosmetologist it is important that you will have had a solid training in your industry and this must be highlighted in your application. You also need to focus on making clear what your main areas of expertise are in the salon, and you can use your Cosmetology Resume to give a clear impression of your career so far.
You also need a Cosmetology cover letter to accompany your resume. This cover letter is an opportunity to give an early indication to your employer that you have the necessary experience and qualifications to carry out the work that they need. The difficulty in achieving this is managing to cram all of this information into a fairly short and to the point letter.
Start off your Cosmetology cover letter by creating a short sentence or two to say that you would like to be considered for the job, and explain where you saw the position advertised. You can follow this by taking a bit more time to explain why you would like to be considered. For this I suggest you do some research on the company that you are hoping to join and speak about their positive traits in this section. Your Cosmetology cover letter also needs to include some information about yourself. The letter is for the purpose of persuading the potential employer that they should at least take the time to look at your Cosmetology Resume. To persuade them, you need to mention some of your career experience and your qualifications and training. The difficulty with this again is the fact that you have to condense this information into the small space that a cover letter allows. This is actually just as well, because your Cosmetology Resume is really the place where you should be discussing your work experience and education, and your cover letter should just touch on these points. Just mention a couple of positions and perhaps your degree if you have one, and leave the rest of the detail for your Resume.
Your Cosmetology Resume should not focus on your early education but your most recent and very specific qualifications and your experience within the industry.
After setting out your name, address and contact details at the top of the page you should start your Cosmetology Resume with an Objective statement. This should be a sentence which spells out where you think you would like to see you career head. Try to make sure that your goals and ambitions seem achievable to you at your potential employers place of work, or they may feel that they will struggle to satisfy your professional ambitions.
Your Cosmetology Resume should then have two sections on your professional experience and education respectively. Both of these sections should run in reverse order starting with your most recent or current qualification or job.
The last section of your Cosmetology Resume should be for anything that you think might help your application but doesn’t quite fit any of your other sections. This could include things like qualifications you have that are of a general nature such as a first aid qualification.
