If you intend to apply for a position in logistics then you will have to consider that there will be a great deal of applicants for this type of job. Here’s your chance to get a head start on your competition by putting together a great Logistics Resume and cover letter.

You should put together your Logistics cover letter together with your resume in mind. Your cover letter should always guide the reader towards your resume, not just go over exactly the same ground.

Being involved in the logistics industry invariably involves being well organised. You can show your organisational skills in your cover letter by writing methodically. Follow a known pattern for your logistics cover letter and any prospective employer will be able to see that you are able to carry out tasks in the way that they are meant to be. To follow this formulae, start with a sentence or two explaining which job you are applying for, where you saw the job advertised, why you would like to apply, and what experience you have which you believe makes you suitable for the position. This is a lot of information to pack into a sentence and by completing this task well you are showing the reader that you can take a set of facts, and present them sensibly and coherently. This is an organisational behaviour in itself and you can show your level headedness here.

After this, you need to make sure you add some information about the company you are applying to, to show that you have researched the company, and you must sign off with a call to action for your prospective employer.

Once you have completed your Logistics cover letter it is time to start thinking about putting together your Logistics Resume. Your Resume will be the most important document you send off for your job application. Hopefully the cover letter gets you over the first hurdle, but the good stuff needs to be contained within your Logistics Resume.

Head up the Logistics Resume with your Name in bold and your contact details. Following this I would recommend a paragraph focused on your logistics skills. The next heading should be your professional experience and this should start with your most recent, or current employment, and move backwards in time from there. Be sure to include all of your work experience but try to give more space to positions held within the Logistics industry.

Follow this with a section on your education. Again follow the same chronological pattern, and once more try to highlight anything you believe to be related or relevant to this application.

For the last section of your Logistics Resume, find something nice to round off with. If you have other competencies or experience, or even qualifications which you think will aid your application but you didn’t feel sat well within any of the other sections – this is the place to mention them. If not, then use this last bit of space to tell your prospective employer about your personal life, with regard to group participation activities such as sports teams etc. It’s a great opportunity to show that you are a real team player.
