As a Meteorologist you will have specialised in the subject at degree and perhaps PHD level and as such your Meteorology Resume should be bursting at the seams with your knowledge and expertise built up over a number of years. You should focus very strongly on your education making sure that you break down your studies very carefully to highlight your varied skill sets. Your Meteorology Resume should also focus on your professional experience and it is very important that this comes across in your Meteorology Resume.

Start off your Meteorology Resume off with a cover letter. This letter is an opportunity for you to demonstrate some of your skills, qualifications and professional experience in a conversational manner, allowing you to enthuse about your prospects. It’s a tricky balancing act though, because you need to direct the reader to what is contained within your Meteorology Resume, not duplicate it.

The first part of your Meteorology cover letter should state what position you are applying for and where you saw the job advertised. Following this you need to explain why you would like the position. Obviously you can talk about your own aspirations within the industry as a whole here, but it is a good opportunity for you to do a little research on the company and talk about them. It shows that you took the time to find out a little bit about them, and it shows a nice methodical approach which will be essential as a Meteorologist.

The next part of your Meteorology cover letter should be about yourself. Talk about your experience, and how you are well qualified for the position, but just be brief and give generalisations such as having worked in the industry for x number of years.

Your Meteorology Resume should start off with an objective which declares your drive for a great job in the industry. Try to make sure your objective matches the job description of the one you are applying for, otherwise you might not seem a good match for the position, no matter how well qualified you are.

The next section of your Meteorology Resume should focus on your past experience. This should show each position, starting with the most recent, and it should indicate exactly what you carried out in each post. Don’t be afraid to go into detail – an employer is likely pouring over these Resumes looking for someone who has carried out similar work in the past, so the more detail you can give, the more likely you are to tick the right boxes.

The final section of your Meteorology Resume should be all about your education. Again, this should be a large part of your Meteorology resume. Start off with your most recent course or qualification, and work backwards from there. Try to give as much detail as you can, especially when it comes to your degree and/or your PHD. Don’t worry too much about your High School grades, unless you feel they are specifically related to the position at hand.
