Navy Resumes
If you are applying to join the Navy then it will be presumed that you have undertaken a lot of research in order to make sure that a career of this nature is for you. You need to consider the possibility of being away from home for a long time, and the likelihood that you will be reposted to different locations from time to time. This is a job for outgoing confident and flexible people, and you need to be able to demonstrate this through your application.
The first thing you will need to do for your Navy Resume is to write a confident cover letter. This Navy cover letter needs to indicate which position you are interested in, how you learned of the availability of the position, and why you are interested in the position. Here you can use the knowledge you have no doubt gained from researching the role and the Navy in general and you should be very easily able to write positively about your views of what Navy life will entail. It is also important that you manage to get across the point that you are keen to be involved in a post where you will be able to help people, and support your country. Most people in the Armed Forces are fiercely patriotic and it will be important for you to believe in the defence of your country.
You should focus an entire paragraph on why you think you are the right person for the job. You can include some information about your education and professional background here but be careful not to go over the same information that is going to be contained in your Navy Resume about the same subjects.
Your Navy Resume should start off with an objective which will indicate what sort of position you are looking for in the Navy. Try to learn enough about the Navy to have a good idea of what your strongest position is – and even if you are intending to start off in a fairly general position you should state what your long term ambitions are within the Navy.
The second section of your Navy Resume should focus on your Work Experience. This is your chance to go into more detail about your previous work. You should look to list al of your previous jobs in reverse order, and you should be mentioning when you worked in these roles, why you left, and what your duties were. If you can also include some information about what you learned from the role this would be useful. Try to show progression in your career too, if at all possible.
The last section of your Navy Resume should be about your Education. This section again should be in reverse order and should start with the last qualification you gained. You will again want to give more than just the basic information here as it is another good opportunity for you to explain why you are so suitable for the job. Highlight good results that you feel will enable you to carry out your potential new role more effectively.
