Nursing Resumes
Whether or not you are a Nurse fresh out of College, or you have been Nursing for many years, when it comes to applying for new jobs, the rules remain the same. You need to put together a really great Nursing cover letter and resume.
As it is the thing that will be read first, you should always start off with your Nursing cover letter. This cover letter needs to do several different things. Firstly of all you need to acknowledge the particular job you are applying for, and mention that you would like to apply for it. Your cover letter also needs to address any questions that are found within the job description, in terms of the skills and experience you have. Try not to get bogged down in this though, because you will be going into much greater detail in your Nursing Resume. Your Cover letter should give information about your work experience, your qualifications, why you would like this job, and why you think that you would be suitable for this job. Once this is done, all that is needed is a reiteration of your interest in being considered for the post, and a signature!
Once the cover letter is finalised, it is important to go through your Nursing Resume with a fine toothed comb to make sure it is up to scratch. Start off as normal with your name, address and contact details, but with those formalities out of the way, you can get stuck into your first big task, which is coming up with a really impressive objective statement. This is something that any Nursing Resume needs. You must come up with a strong and eye catching statement, which embodies your desires within the nursing profession. Take heed though, this statement must relate to the job description for the position for which you are applying, or the prospective employers may well think that you are unsuitable for the job. You might have to check your natural ambitions in this section to make sure that you are giving them what they want.
Once you have the objective statement that is going to open their eyes to your desire in the profession, you can move on to a section about your working experience. This section is a brilliant opportunity for you to really show off about your skills. Some people merely list what positions they have held, but you should be talking in depth about these positions, explaining exactly what you had to do in a normal working day, and what you got from it which has lead you to being a better nurse than you were before. Show off your skills and talk about your experiences openly.
After this section you can go on to list your qualifications. Start with the most recent, and follow this in reverse chronological order. Remember though to try and push the most relevant qualifications to the top, so that they are easily spotted by the prospective employer. Below this section you can go on to mention any certificates that you hold which relate to the position for which you are applying.
In the light hearted last section, talk about your interests, your hobbies, and try to show that you are a warm and sociable person – traits much desired in the nursing trade.
Compiling a Nursing Resume can be a difficult task, but if you follow these rules you should come out on top.

1. Begin with personal and contact information. Centered at the top of the page, place your full name, street address, city, state and zip code followed by home/cell phone numbers and email address. | 2. List your objective. The objective is often the most important section of your nursing resume. This is where you will highlight your skills and qualifications while stating your career goals in a way that relates directly to the position you are applying for. |

| 3. Skills come next. In the skills section of your nursing resume, you want to highlight your skills and talents in a way that will impress an employer and make them want to hire you. Emphasize your team leader or supervisory skills, or any areas where you are extremely confident and competent. |

4. Career experience. This section is self-explanatory. You want to list previous experience that relates to the position for which you are applying. Your nursing resume should emphasize the work you have done in specific areas, such as in private or public work. Describe your duties and how your work impacted the patients or health care facility. Experience: Responsibilities, achievements in your role, advancement or promotion, etc. |
| 5. Qualifications. When you are in search of a nursing job, you should list any and all qualifications that make you the best candidate for the job. List the colleges and universities you attended, followed by degree obtained and year. |

| 6. Work history. List your previous work history as a nurse or those jobs in a related field, beginning with the most current. List the name of the company you worked for, followed by job title and years worked. This should be listed using bullet points. |

You may also list any interests or hobbies that are directly related to your ability to perform the job, but it isn't mandatory.
