Printing Resumes
The Printing business is not quite as it used to be with less and less work available due to the expansion of the internet. More paper publications are going out of business every day, so naturally, the job of a Printer is becoming harder to come by. It is for this reason that you have to ensure that your Printer Resume is absolutely perfect in its presentation and content.
A great way to start off any application for a job is with a cover letter and Printing is no different.
Start your Printing cover letter with a sentence or two indicating which position you are interested in applying for, and where you saw the position advertised. You should also give a little information on why you want to work for this particular company. Just stating that jobs for printers are few and far between won’t really cut the mustard – you need some background information on the company itself and you should use this information to make you seem well informed and passionate about the company.
Your Printing cover letter is also a good opportunity to show the employer that you would be a great addition to their team. Use your printing experience and your formal training as a way to show that you are the best person for the job, but try to retain some details of this information for your Printing Resume. You don’t to find yourself in the position whereby you are repeating information in your Resume straight from your cover letter. Make sure your cover letter is a document which guides your prospective employer towards your Resume – not a carbon copy of your resume.
Your printing Resume should start off with an objective which shows just what sort of job you are looking for in the printing world. If you feel that your experience now lends you to the role of print buyer then state this, but make sure you have the necessary experience to make such a claim. You should also have a look at the job description for the position to make sure your goals match that of the company.
Your Printing Resume should have a section which lists all of your key printing skills. You should bullet point all of your skills and try not to go into detail about those skills. Just list these, because there will be a chance to give more information about these under your Professional experience section.
Your professional experience section should run back from your last position and this is where you can give more information about your skills, with the added bonus of being able to relate them to particular jobs. In each job you have had as a printer, you should list your tasks in that role and explain how you succeeded in each role.
The final section of your Printer resume should list your education. Again, this should run in reverse order from your last qualification or training course. You should start with any on the job training you have been able to carry out and follow this with formal qualifications dating back to your High School.
