In academic administration, a dean is a person with significant authority over a specific academic unit, or over a specific area of concern or both. The Assistant Dean of Students provides coordination, guidance and process management for academic and administrative departments which involve in services and programs delivered to students, parents and families. Additional responsibilities include management of intercollegiate athletics, student clubs, student outreach and enrollment management program, career/transfer center, academic advisor intercollegiate athletics, student leadership, on-campus activity, community service programs, student athlete advisory council and fundraising.
The Assistant Dean of Students also reviews reports of student misconduct cases that require disciplinary action to ensure recommendations conform to university policies; sponsors and advises student organizations; reviews budget and directs appropriations of student services unit. Also represents university in community on matters pertaining to student personnel program and activities.
