School Psychologists are qualified to provide a broad range of skills to address student needs in a variety of areas. The School Psychologist will work with students, parents, and teachers to promote academic, emotional, and behavioral success. The School Psychologist provides a full range of school psychological services to children ages 0-21, including screening and assessment, designing remedial educational programs, individual and group counseling with school staff, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate. He/she designs and implements programs to meet the developmental needs of the student population and also performs direct interventions with students and families in need.
School Psychologist responsibilities include providing individual, group and organizational interventions, including counseling and they might provide trainings to teachers regarding various learning and mental health topic. Also School Psychologists are experts in Special Education and have a large role in the eligibility process for special education. They assess students suspected of having a disability as part of the process in determining eligibility for special education services.
