Support Resumes
If you are looking for a support job then you have to be able to provide just that. Many support positions will see you working on someone else’s behalf and you will at times be expected to produce documents for those people. This means that any documentation that you provide for your application needs to be presented smartly and without grammatical errors. A good idea is to ask a friend to look over your Support Resume and cover letter when they are completed.
Start the application by writing the Support cover letter. This cover letter is there to introduce yourself to the prospective employer and to make it clear that you would like to be considered for the job. Be sure to include the full title of the job you wish to apply for, and give some reasons why you think you should be a good choice for the job. You shouldn’t give too much information here, but indicate that there is further information contained in your Support Resume. Make clear again that you look forward to being considered for the position, and make sure that you leave some contact details for you to be contacted on.
Once you have finished your Support cover letter you should start off your resume with an objective statement. This needs to outline your vision of your career, but make sure that it ties in nicely with the job description of the position that you are going for.
The next section of your Support Resume should concentrate on your past experience. You should really list all jobs you have undertaken, although you should only really go into detail about recent positions or positions where you have done similar work. Try to show occasions where you have achieved something in your work, and indicate job duties which are similar to the ones you will be expected to undertake in your new position.
Follow this section with some information about your qualifications. The amount of qualifications in your Support Resume is not the be all and end all. It is more that case that you should have qualifications that can relate to the job at hand. It is important to break down each qualification to show what part of the qualification actually helps to make you a great candidate for this job. This can sometimes require you to be quite creative, so you need to be ready to think outside of the box.
The final section of your resume should be about any outside interests you have. Try to show yourself as being quite an outgoing person, capable of socialising well. To indicate this you could mention any sporting teams that you are involved in, or any charity work that you have done in the past. Also mention any occasions when you have been able to support people outside of the work space to show that you have a natural bent for this sort of work.
To give yourself a good chance of progressing to interview stage, make sure that you follow the guidelines we have set out for you here.
